Google UX Design certificate
Building an online course platform marketplace

Picture
For this certification, I have completed a rigorous training designed for entry-level job readiness. Seven courses covering topics such as: UX research fundamentals, inclusive design, wireframing, low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes, and tools like Figma and Adobe XD.

The problem

The goal

Instructors need an online platform to share their knowledge in and make profit out of it. Learners want to acquire more skills and are looking for a fitting app.
Create a seamless e-learning marketplace that allows instructors to share content and monetize it, but also allow learners to access a diversified pool of information.

User research

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research was adults who are looking to expand their skillset.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions about Kitab Learning users, but research also revealed that each user has specifications that others may not have.
Other use problems included obligations, interests, or challenges that make it difficult to share knowledge or acquire new skills online.

Takeaways

Next steps

While designing the Kitab Learning app, I learned that the first ideas for the app are only the beginning of the process. Usability studies and peer feedback influence each iteration of the app’s design.

A quote from peer feedback:

”I really like the app’s UI, I find the whole visuals very intuitive and inviting. If this was a real app, I would definitely use it!”
1.   Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed.

2.
Conduct more user research to determine any new areas of need.

3.   Work a little more on the prototype, especially the transitions. I would also love to add audio to my hi-fi prototype, I believe it would be more interactive.
